For a planned development of version 3.x [1] no commits have been made to the 3.0 codebase since 2011.[2]
In 2011 a fork of the 2.x codebase titled 'WinMerge 2011' was created. This new branch has continued to see active feature and bug fix development. It has also removed ATL/MFC dependencies so that WinMerge can be built using the free Visual C++ Express editions.[3] Beyond compare for mac.

On my PC, I often use a free-ware called WinMerge. It allows me to compare two file folders and all subfolders under it. It produces a side by side report on what files are different, what are identical, what are missing on the left and what on the right etc. With a click of button, it lets you move things between the left side and right side to make them sync up.
